Fascinated by the histories and processes of painting; colour and the materiality of paint are used as speculative / critical tools with the aim of making aesthetically provocative work that stimulates debate about painting and social issues. Drawing is a passion. Printmaking, photography/video and object-making also inform the work.

This website includes work made since 1977. The content of the pages listed under Gallery vary, some, such as Birmingham refer to the place the paintings were made. Others such as Heaps refer to a particular group of works and others, for example Studio Stories are titles of exhibitions and consist of gallery shots and a link to a video. Some include exhibition reviews (PALCE) and others such as Structures list books that were hugely important at the time of making the paintings. Occasionally there are short pieces of self-written text alongside the paintings, (Home Ground).
